Project: JASPER/LIFT

University of Oregon, Eugene Oregon

“JASPER is a play-based intervention that teaches social communication skills to young children with autism, developed by Dr. Connie Kasari at the University of California, Los Angeles.”

We were tasked with taking this training and converting it into an interactive instructional experience by Dr. Stephanie Shire and her team at the University of Oregon, Early Intervention and Early Childhood Special Education department.

LIFT focuses on the development and testing of an adaptation of the Joint Attention Symbolic Play Engagement and Regulation (JASPER) intervention that uses technology to help early interventionists and preschool special educators deliver the intervention to families of young children with ASD living in communities in Southern Oregon.

IEQ designed, developed, and maintains the web application, API, and database.

The project is designed to bring new intervention tools to SOESD Early Intervention and Early Childhood Special Education practitioners to support children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and their families. LIFT is funded by the Institute of Education Sciences (PI: Shire, Grant Number R324B200017). LIFT is a partnership between Southern Oregon Educational Service District (SOESD) and the Shire Research Lab at the University of Oregon.
